gone to waste by GreenSprite gone to waste by GreenSprite
I'm not having any luck with watercolours lately. I'm just glad I had the intuition to scan this before I ruined it.

Coloured inks, watercolour, salt, masking fluid, slight saturation adjustment in Photoshop.

No luck?! Curse your humility! :shakefist:

I love this  - love the autumnal colours, the salt and masking-fluid effects. Brilliant way to capture trees without the horror of painting every single effing leaf! :D

Remember that I did ruin the original after all (I should scan it for you to see :P)

And yes, any shortcuts that keep me from drawing millions of detailed tiny things are welcome! :D

I am madly in love, how you work with watercolor. * __ * You do invent, or somewhere you take these techniques?

Oh, they're well-known techniques (such as using salt). I guess what makes my watercolors different is the fact that I use many layers.
Thank you *_*

I have about 10 years of practice already, and I think I master them well enough :) It's not that. Sometimes they just suddenly decide to hate me for a while. Which is fine, since I enjoy digital art too.

This is really, really beautiful. Maybe you ruined it later on, but right when you scanned it, this painting was just about perfect. :D

Well, you DID adjust the colors in photoshop, or something like that, so... maybe the original looks ugly...? XD

Hah no I think I actually went a teeny bit overboard with the saturation, so this version is uglier. I assure you the tweaking is minimal, anyway :p

Well, then I don't know. It's very atmospheric, and has cool shapes and patterns and stuff..... Yeah, I dunno. No accounting for taste? :D

Oh, next time you feel that the colors are taking an odd turn, why not wash the paper (in the sink)? It will leave a faint trace of color that you can use for the background or to build a color scheme that you might like more.

Inks don't wash off, as far as I know, and I use more ink than watercolour when painting lately. And I do like the colours here, why are you saying this? :|

Because you always seem to be displeased with the way your watercolors turn out.

Um... that's not entirely true. I did ruin the original, but I like this version that I scanned. And even if I could wash off the mistake, it would ruin the background which is a pretty big deal. I'm afraid I'm not one of those magical people who can correct their watercolors.

It is beautiful. Creates a special mood in you. Scanners are watercolourists' best friends.(

Why are there hoses from one figure to the other?

Oooh, I love this. Did you use salt to get that effect on the foliage? Creates such intricate patterns. And those Autumnal colours look delicious :eager:
But it sucks that you're not happy with it anymore. I hate it when I make a mistake on something that I can't change. But, like you said, it's a good thing you scanned it first <3
