Farmville on Christmas by GreenSprite Farmville on Christmas by GreenSprite
I realised that the easiest way to make portraits of people is to stalk them while they're at the computer. It's amazing how they won't move anything but their fingers for dozens of minutes at a time. The victim is my sister, as usual. I don't draw her that well, she's actually much prettier, but for some reason I like the drawing.

Here are more sketches I made over the holidays: [link]

Looks like a really natural pose (I especially like the positioning of her hands) :)

Thank you! Yes, having a model results in believable poses, and people react well to that :) If only I could have models for all my work.

I feel the same way - if I have an idea for an image, I want people to pose for it. Working from photographs is definitely helpful for me, but my stuff often looks turns out looking flat.

I love the simplicity of the linework, and the splash of colour :D

Thanks! I'm addicted to markers and orange. I'm telling you, get an orange marker, it makes everything better! Bright green also works.

I love bright colour splashes too - I used orange for my last picture and really liked the effect :D I'll have a go with green next time.

I like the hair a lot, but the actual line work on body doesn't fit my taste (thats not a flaw!) and it disturbs my eye a little that the markers make the layering of strokes so visible. But its a quick figure sketch, so its perfectly fine as it is. :)

Yeah, it's not the most elegant thing ever, but it was a quick one. I kind of like the markers though, they give it a little texture.

Lol, that´s really good observation about the computer :D...I hated when I had to pose for my sister...Maybe if I had a computer in front of me, I would have been a less bothering model :P...
Btw: did you do the drawing instantly by pen? Or pencil first??

It's based on a pencil sketch, you can still see some lines if you look carefully.
